Tenute Mokarta Company takes its name from the hill of the same name located in the sunny countryside of Salemi, in the province of Trapani, Sicily, a very fertile area favorable to the production of excellent vineyards. This area has a calcareous - clayey soil ideal for the cultivation of Grillo.
Mokarta Hill is known for its archaeological site. Excavation began for the first time in 1970 with the discovery of a necropolis with about 60 tombs carved into the rock and containing a funerary outfit consisting of various pottery dating back to the early Bronze Age. Further excavations were carried out towards the end of the 1900s and brought to light singular huts that let us imagine the presence of a real Sican village. Almost certainly the village was destroyed during a fire caused by the population of the Elmi with whom the Sicans were in conflict.
Which place in the world can offer such a combination?
Amazing story of Italian excellences.
