Diodoros is the extra virgin oil from the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento (Sicily) produced from the centuries-old and monumental olive trees that adorn the enchanted Valley, a World Heritage Site (Unesco 1997).
The oil of the Valley comes from an agreement which the Archaeological Park of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento has exclusively entrusted to the Val Paradiso company the cultivation and care of the centuries-old olive trees of the Park, located in the splendid valley between the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concord and the remains of the ancient city of Akragas.
The oil of the Valley represents a suggestive project to enhance the Sicilian and Mediterranean culture and civilization. The centuries-old olive trees cared for by the company are real living monuments and represent a historical-cultural asset, rich in symbolic and institutional values linked to the olive tree and its fruit.
The olives harvested from the centuries-old olive trees of the Valley when they are still green, are transported to the mill after a few hours of harvesting and immediately cold pressed, to preserve all the freshness and fragrance of the fruit in the oil. The tastings describe a delicate oil of medium fruity, with pleasant hints reminiscent of tomato and artichoke, fruit of the organoleptic characteristics of the ancient varieties of olive trees existing in the Park associated with the Biancolilla, a variety recently planted to enrich the arboreal heritage of the Valley.
Amazing story of Italian excellences.
